Jeanmarie Says: The new James Bond movie Quantum Of Solace is out this week, making it Daniel Craig’s second stab at the franchise.
But even though it’s setting UK box office records, it’s also been getting mixed reviews for being inferior to Casino Royale.
Maybe that’s the reason why Quantum opened first in Europe and will only reach the US next week - the producers were probably concerned that a highly-negative reaction in the US would scare off the rest of the world.
Those looking for non-stop action will not be disappointed. The rest of us expecting the trademark sly quips, cool gadgets or even a decent sex scene will be wondering if we stepped into the wrong cinema hall.
And remember the brouhaha surrounding the casting of Craig as the super-cool spy? He redeemed himself admirably in Casino Royale, but without a buzzed-about scene like the one with him emerging from the ocean in his trunks (which he has retired for good) in Quantum, he gives a performance worthy of a Madame Tussauds waxwork.
It’s hard to believe that producers can bring themselve to rave about how he’s “the greatest Bond”. Hello, what’s Sean Connery then?
Craig has confirmed he’ll be back for a third go-around because we all know Bond movies never die, but I’m already over him.

Quantum Of Solace is definitely on my must-see list this year. Of course I disagree with the producers who call Daniel Craig the greatest Bond. Daniel Craig had only starred in two Bond movies. I agree that Sean Connery is the best Bond of all time. However, judging by Casino Royale (which was my #1 movie in 2006), I dare say that Daniel Craig is ranked 2nd best Bond after Sean Connery. Brosnan and Dalton are all looks and no go. Even my father is more charming than Lazenby and Moore.

First things first, Quantum Of Solace is definitely on my must-see list this year. I’ve been looking forward to the new movie ever since I heard it was in production. And taking place moments after Casino Royale, it just makes it all the more exciting. I admit that I’m a James Bond fanatic. I’ve been a fan since I was 12. My favourite all time Bond is Pierce Brosnan. Daniel Craig will probably be another great Bond actor after Pierce Brosnan, but Craig is not the greatest. The greatest will always be Sean Connery as he was the first to portray the famous secret agent with his own wit and style. The other actors after him just followed the style that he had left in the role. With Quantum Of Solace being Daniel Craig’s second Bond outing, lets hope he will continue to prove to everyone that he is a great Bond. And I hope that we can all see Daniel Craig again in future Bond movies after Quantum Of Solace. Here’s to Craig, Daniel Craig.
